Autumn Impression — Golden Foliage Against Cool Blue Light
Autumn Impression is a small original plein air oil painting
by Andrea Bocedi, measuring 20 × 20 cm. Tall trees rise through the
square composition, their golden foliage illuminated against areas
of cool blue sky and deep green shadow.
The painting was developed through loose, direct brushwork rather
than detailed description. Yellow ochres, warm greens and flashes
of pale colour move across the upper branches, while the darker
lower area gives the composition depth and weight.
A Vertical Rhythm Inside a Square Format
Although the painting has a square format, the principal
movement is strongly vertical. Tree trunks and rising branches
lead the eye upward from the dense foreground toward the
brighter foliage and open sky.
The contrast between warm yellow leaves and cool blue-violet
light establishes the seasonal atmosphere. Dark greens,
muted browns and broken grey passages prevent the autumn colour
from becoming decorative or overly bright.
The subject is not every individual leaf, but the movement
of autumn colour through branches, shadow and cool sky.
