A Real Oil Painting of Your Dog

A custom pet portrait should feel like an object with presence — not just another image on a screen. My portraits are painted in traditional oil paint on canvas or panel, using your photos as reference while keeping the final work painterly, atmospheric and alive.

This is not a digital portrait, not AI-generated art and not a printed reproduction. It is a one-of-a-kind original oil painting, made by hand and signed by the artist.

More Than a Likeness

A good pet portrait is not only about copying a photo. I look for the small things that make the animal recognizable: the shape of the head, the eyes, the posture, the softness or stubbornness of the expression, the way the light touches the fur.

The portrait can be calm, elegant and simple, or more painterly and expressive, depending on the photo and the character of the animal. I prefer portraits that feel natural rather than overly polished — paintings with warmth, texture and life.

Why Commission a Pet Portrait from Andrea Bocedi?

I am an Italian-Polish oil painter focused on atmosphere, light and the emotional presence of a subject. My landscape paintings often deal with memory, silence and the feeling of a place — and I bring the same sensitivity to portraits of animals.

A dog portrait is not only a likeness. It is a way of preserving a companion’s character in a physical, lasting form: oil paint, brushwork, surface, colour and presence.

Custom Dog & Pet Portraits in Oil

Turn your dog into a real hand-painted oil portrait — created from your photo, signed by the artist, and made as a lasting original artwork.

I paint custom pet portraits in oil for people who want more than a digital image, a print or a quick illustration. Each portrait is painted by hand, with attention to the animal’s character, gaze, expression and presence.

Whether it is a beloved dog, a cat, or another companion animal, the goal is to create a painting that feels personal, warm and alive — a quiet artwork you can keep, frame and live with for years.

How It Works

1. Send Your Photos

Send one or several clear photos of your dog or pet. Natural light is best. I can help choose the strongest reference for the portrait.

2. We Confirm the Portrait

I confirm the format, composition, background and general mood of the painting before starting. A deposit is required to reserve the commission.

3. I Paint the Portrait in Oil

The portrait is painted by hand in oil, with visible brushwork, colour and texture. Each work is an original painting, not a print.

4. You Receive the Finished Artwork

The painting is signed, carefully packed and shipped from Poland / European Union. Framing is not included unless agreed separately.

What Kind of Photo Should You Send?

The best reference photos are clear, sharp and taken in natural light. The animal’s eyes and face should be visible, because this is usually where the character of the portrait lives.

  • Natural daylight is better than flash.
  • Photos taken at the animal’s eye level usually work best.
  • A calm pose, expressive look or strong silhouette can make a better painting.
  • You can send several photos and I will help choose the strongest one.
