Master Studies

This collection presents original hand-painted master studies by Andrea Bocedi,
created after paintings by important historic artists. Each work is made as an
independent oil painting and explores a specific aspect of the source artwork,
such as colour temperature, brushwork, composition, portrait structure,
reflected light or the simplification of form.

Master studies form an important part of Andrea Bocedi’s painting practice.
They provide an opportunity to analyse how another painter constructed an
image and to rebuild those decisions directly through paint. The purpose is
not to create a mechanical reproduction, but to understand how value, colour,
edges and individual brushstrokes work together.

Every painting in this category is a unique physical artwork, not a print,
digital image or numbered edition. The historic artist and source painting
are clearly identified, while Andrea Bocedi is identified as the painter of
the contemporary study. Each available work is signed and supplied with a
certificate of authenticity.

The collection currently includes oil studies after Joaquín Sorolla,
examining coastal light, white fabric, portrait painting, colour relationships
and direct, expressive brushwork. Commissioned studies after historic
public-domain paintings may also be discussed.
