Description
Pavoni – Original Peacock Oil Painting from Monza, Italy
Pavoni is an original oil painting by Andrea Bocedi, inspired by peacocks walking through the grounds of Monza Sporting Club in Lombardy, Italy. The painting is based on the contrast between the elegant movement of the birds, the dark surrounding atmosphere and the intense colour of the peacock tail.
This work began with a painterly problem: how to synthesize the ornamental complexity of a peacock’s tail without describing every feather. Instead of a literal illustration, the painting uses rhythm, colour and simplified forms to suggest the iridescent fan of the bird. Phthalo green, ultramarine and cobalt blue create a strong chromatic tension against the darker background, giving the scene a quiet but vivid presence.
Painted in oil and presented in a frame, this 20 × 40 cm original artwork is a one-of-a-kind peacock oil painting for collectors looking for animal art, Italian-inspired oil paintings, atmospheric interiors, or a small original painting with a distinctive decorative and emotional character.

A peacock painting built from colour, contrast and atmosphere
The peacock is often associated with display, beauty and ornament, but in this painting the subject is treated more quietly. The birds appear within a dark, atmospheric setting, while the saturated greens and blues of the tail create the main visual event of the work. The result is both decorative and restrained — a small painting that can hold attention through colour, texture and mood.
Pavoni may work especially well for collectors who are drawn to original animal paintings, bird paintings, Italian places, and oil paintings that combine observation with painterly interpretation. It is not a print or digital image, but a signed original artwork with visible brushwork and surface texture.
Studio note
What interested me most in this painting was not only the peacock itself, but the challenge of translating its tail into paint. I wanted the colour to feel alive without becoming overly detailed. The contrast between phthalo green, ultramarine and cobalt blue allowed me to build the impression of iridescence, while the dark background kept the painting grounded and atmospheric.
This approach connects with many of my Italian and Mediterranean-inspired oil paintings, where the final image is shaped by place, memory, light and colour rather than by literal description.
