Original oil paintings from direct observation
Plein Air Paintings for Sale
A selection of original plein air oil paintings by Andrea Bocedi — small works painted outdoors, directly from landscape, light and atmosphere.
These paintings are not studio reconstructions or digital images. They are painted from life, often in one short session, where the changing light, weather and place become part of the final work.
Painted Outdoors
Plein air painting means working directly in front of the motif. The painting records a specific encounter with light, colour, weather and place.
Small Original Works
Many plein air paintings are small, intimate and immediate. They are ideal for collectors looking for original oil paintings with directness and atmosphere.
One-of-a-Kind Paintings
Each work is an original oil painting, signed by the artist. Not a print, not AI-generated, not a reproduction.
Original Plein Air Oil Paintings
This page gathers available plein air paintings for sale, including landscapes, small outdoor oil sketches, atmospheric studies and works painted directly from nature. Plein air painting is especially important in my practice because it keeps the work connected to observation, changing light and the physical experience of being in a place.
Some of these works are finished paintings, while others keep the freshness of a study. What connects them is directness: quick decisions, visible brushwork, simplified forms and the attempt to catch a moment before it disappears.
If you are looking for a small original oil painting, a landscape painted outdoors, or a collector’s piece with a strong sense of place, this selection is a good starting point.

Why Collect Plein Air Paintings?
A plein air painting carries something that is difficult to repeat in the studio: the pressure of time. Light changes, shadows move, wind and weather interrupt the process, and the painter has to simplify. This gives many plein air works a special energy — less polished, but often more alive.
For collectors, these paintings can be a direct and affordable way to own an original oil painting. They often work beautifully as small framed pieces, intimate landscape paintings, studio wall accents, or part of a larger collection of original artworks.

How I Paint on Location
I work outdoors with a compact Sienna All-in-One pochade box, oil colours and a limited selection of brushes. Depending on the journey and the subject, I paint on small prepared panels or on loose sheets of linen secured to a rigid backing board.
Most of these paintings are developed during one direct session. The aim is not to reproduce every detail, but to establish the main masses, colour temperatures and rhythm of the scene before the light changes. Moving clouds, wind, shifting shadows and changing water become part of the decisions made in the painting.
This way of working has accompanied me through Poland, Tuscany, Lombardy and the northern coast of Sardinia. Each place requires a different response: the cool reflected light of Polish landscapes, warm Tuscan stone, dense Mediterranean vegetation or the rapidly changing colour of the Sardinian sea.
Portable Painting Setup
A wooden pochade box, prepared linen or panels and a compact palette allow me to work directly in front of the subject without carrying a full studio outdoors.
Direct Observation
I simplify the landscape into large shapes, temperature relationships and selected accents rather than trying to describe every tree, stone or wave.
Travelling with Wet Paintings
Loose linen sheets and small panels are easier to transport, stack and dry during longer journeys, especially when several paintings are created within a few days.
Painting on location introduces pressure and uncertainty, but it also produces decisions that would be difficult to recreate later in the studio.
Many of the works on this page were painted in Sardinia , Tuscany and other parts of Italy. Related works can also be explored in the Mediterranean landscape and seascape collection .
