Description

Moniak Manor – The Study is an original interior oil painting inspired by Dwór z Moniak in Janowiec, near Janowiec Castle in Poland. This 24 x 30 cm work focuses on the quiet atmosphere of a historic manor interior — a simple chair, a small table, a globe, hunting accessories and the calm geometry of the room.

Rather than turning the subject into a detailed historical reconstruction, I treated the interior as a painterly arrangement of shapes, colour and atmosphere. The pale door, muted green wall, warm brown furniture and dark accents create a restrained palette that suits the reflective mood of the room.

A quiet historic interior

This painting comes from my interest in architecture and interiors that carry a sense of memory. What interested me here was not just the furniture or objects themselves, but the feeling of stillness they create together. The room feels inhabited by time — modest, elegant and slightly mysterious.

The composition is built around a few strong elements: the chair placed near the door, the curved table, the globe, and the mounted antlers above. These details suggest the character of the room without overwhelming the painting with unnecessary information.

Painted for atmosphere, not description

As in many of my paintings, I simplified edges and forms so that the subject remains recognisable while the paint surface stays alive. The goal was to preserve the mood of the manor interior rather than record every object precisely. Soft transitions, quiet tonal contrasts and a reduced palette were more important here than exact detail.

This approach makes the work suitable not only for someone interested in Polish architecture or historic interiors, but also for anyone looking for an intimate, atmospheric painting with a calm presence.
