Description

Framed original architecture oil painting

Kazimierskie Podcienie — Historic Arcades in Kazimierz Dolny

This framed original oil painting presents a narrow architectural
passage in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland. White plaster walls surround
a heavy shadowed arch, while a small opening at the far end draws
the eye toward daylight and blue sky.

Instead of showing an entire building, the painting concentrates
on a close fragment of historic architecture. The arch, window,
hanging lantern and uneven walls create a compact arrangement
of light, shadow and surface.

Shadow, plaster and reflected light

An Architectural Interior Built from Contrasts

The main structure of the painting comes from the contrast
between the dark arch and the pale surrounding walls.
The passage is narrow, but the brighter opening behind it
creates a clear sense of depth.

The white plaster is built from broken whites, cool greys,
warmer cream notes and small blue reflections. Thick,
visible brushwork emphasizes the uneven surface of the wall
rather than treating it as a smooth, neutral background.

At close range, the old passage becomes almost abstract:
one dark mass surrounded by fractured light, textured plaster
and a narrow opening toward the sky.

A small painting of historic architecture

Old Walls Painted as Physical Surfaces

The painting is not intended as a precise architectural record.
Its subject is the sensation of standing inside a narrow historic
passage where light enters indirectly and every wall carries
differences of age, texture and reflected colour.

The compact 18 × 24 cm format strengthens the enclosed character
of the composition. The arch occupies much of the surface, while
smaller details such as the lantern, window and bright opening
provide scale and rhythm.

This work may appeal to collectors interested in Kazimierz Dolny,
Polish architecture, arcade paintings, historic building art
and small original oil paintings with visible brushwork.
