Description
San Marco Venice Oil Painting – Original Artwork of Saint Mark’s Basilica
San Marco is an original oil painting by Andrea Bocedi, inspired by
Saint Mark’s Basilica in Venice. The painting captures the moment when the last warm light touches the golden facade of the basilica, while the evening sky deepens into blue and the lower arches dissolve into shadow.
This is not a precise architectural illustration, but an atmospheric Venice oil painting focused on memory, colour and light. The glowing arches, domes and ornamental shapes of San Marco become almost theatrical against the darker surroundings, suggesting the silence of Venice at dusk rather than the noise of the crowded square.
Painted in oil on canvas board and presented in a frame, this 20 × 30 cm original artwork is a one-of-a-kind piece for collectors looking for a small Venice painting, an Italian cityscape oil painting, or an original artwork connected with historic architecture, evening light and Mediterranean atmosphere.

Why this Venice painting may speak to collectors
The strength of this painting lies in the contrast between the warm orange-gold architecture and the cool blue evening atmosphere. It is a small painting, but it carries the mood of a remembered city: the last light, the darkening square, the decorative facade of San Marco and the feeling of Venice slowly moving from day into night.
For collectors, this work may fit especially well in an interior that values original art with a sense of place — not a tourist image, not a print, but a signed oil painting with visible brushwork, texture and painterly atmosphere.
Studio note
Evening light is one of the recurring themes in my landscape and cityscape oil paintings. In San Marco, the atmosphere is built through simplified forms, warm illuminated architecture and deep surrounding shadow rather than detailed description. I am interested in the moment when a place becomes partly real and partly remembered.
I wrote more about this approach in my article on evening painting:
